A fresh perspective on crushing the competition

Service-based business owners, here's a fresh perspective on CRUSHING your competition:

Wait, hang on - put that meat tenderizer down! Please don’t crush them. Or tackle them. Or annihilate them. Instead, shift your perspective.

They aren’t your competition; they are your comrades.

The better they are at marketing and doing their job, the more legitimacy they bring to your industry. The more legitimacy your industry has, the more people are going to trust that the services you provide are worth paying for.

The more people trust that the services you provide are worth paying for, the higher the demand for the services you provide become. And then, the more potential clients you have to work with.

You’re in this game together.

If you show up as your best - in your marketing and in your work with clients - you are HELPING the other service-based business owners in your industry.

You looking good makes them look good.

On the other hand, them looking mediocre (or worse) makes you look mediocre (or worse), even if you have nothing to do with them…you are both representatives of your industry.

Let’s look at two scenarios of how this can work using personal training.

Scenario A:

Someone hires a personal trainer. It ends up being a terrible experience. This person walked away believing the personal training industry is a crock of sh*t, and that all personal trainers are snake oil salespeople, taking your money in exchange for unfulfilled promises.

Scenario B:

Someone hires a personal trainer. It ends up being a wonderful experience. This person walked away believing the personal training industry is a gift to mankind, and everyone should hire a personal trainer at least once in their lifetime. The money spent was worth every penny and more, because it resulted in a positive transformation.

If you're a personal trainer, which of the two scenarios is going to help you grow your business, even though this wasn't your client or situation?

Hopefully, you picked Scenario B.

As a Career & Leadership coach, I am thrilled when I see other Career & Leadership coaches showing up as heart-centered professionals. I’m cheering them on, hoping they are taking responsibility for their clients’ results and bringing about positive transformation.

There are more than enough potential clients for every single person working in your industry to make a difference AND a profit.

There is more than enough work to go around.

Comrades > competition.
