Here are the three most common approaches to take when you want to achieve something, ranked by their effectiveness (all of these have been tried and tested by yours truly):
1. Want something, but let the fear keep you stuck. Don’t start.
Effectiveness level: ZILCH
This is the approach to take to ensure you do not get what you want.
2. Want something, and want it NOW. Spend your time chasing “get results quick!” trends, shortcuts, and instant “manifestation” tools.
Effectiveness level: MILD
This is the approach to take to ensure you experience frustration, burnout, and compounding self-doubt as you work toward what you want.
3. Want something, and decide you will do the work to achieve that something, no matter what it takes, or how long.
Effectiveness level: MASSIVE
This is the approach to take if you really want what you say you want.
Listen, it's not sexy, but it works:
- Make a decision
- Do the work
- Practice patience
- Repeat until it's done
If you're in such a hurry to get what you want, then slow the f*ck down and do what works.
It's my favorite paradox: nothing speeds the process up like practicing PATIENCE.
